ICESSA, the International Center of Expertise on Sibling Sexual Abuse, is a worldwide network of lived experience experts, academics, and other professionals collaborating to end sibling sexual abuse by raising awareness and reducing stigma.
We envision a society that actively protects families by bravely tackling the hard subject of sibling sexual abuse without stigma or denial.
Our mission is to eliminate the stigma of sibling sexual abuse through education, engagement, and advocacy so society has real opportunities for prevention where SSA has not yet happened and intervention where it has.
ABOUT OUR FOUNDER
Nancy is an SSA survivor and activist. Along with ICESSA, Nancy is the founder of the #SiblingsToo Research Project and created the #SiblingsToo podcast in 2018, the first and still only podcast in the world that deals directly with sibling sexual abuse. In April 2023, Nancy produced the First Annual International #SiblingsToo Day and coordinated the second in 2024.
Nancy contributes to various research and intervention projects worldwide. She is also editing the first draft of her book that brings together lived experience stories and supporting research (working title: Sibling Sexual Abuse – The Truth About Society’s Last Taboo).
Nancy offers public information sessions about SSA, its impacts and prevention to parents, schools, academics, practitioners, and the media from both her professional and lived experience perspectives.
